Mid April

Good grief, it's hard to believe it's mid April. Our weather has returned to normal spring weather, and we are all enjoying it fully! It's always fun to see what's new in the garden from day to day. My most favourite spring smell is in full bloom.....what's my most favourite spring smell you say.....why it's lilacs of course! I'm still working on my my current knitting project, and at times feel like I'm the slowest knitter on earth! Good news is that I'm about to start the yoke , and that makes me happy.
This evening we went for an ocean walk to our second favourite beach walk. The air smelt like spring and ocean at the same time. Once the days get a bit longer we'll be taking our supper down with us and enjoy the sun sets too. There is a resident beaver that lives along the dikes and has created some havoc by nibbling down some trees close to his damn.
My parents are arriving this week from Ontario, and we are are excited about that visit. Just need to do a little tidying up, and I'll be ready.
Have a wonderful week!

Ode to Betsy

Betsy was our first "family car", and she was our van for the past 12 years. What the "Magic School Bus" was to Miss Frizzle, that's what Betsy was to us! (at least when the kids were really young) A lot of memories were made inside Betsy; happy ones, sad ones, loud ones, and quiet ones, lost ones and found ones, and yes even changing diaper ones! After 12 years, she had a few funny quirks about her. When I would pick up the kids anywhere, they would hear me coming even before they would see me, even the cat knew we where home before we got in the driveway! She was very retro....she still had a cassette player....not many cars can boast about that these days. :) I know, "she" was just a car, an inanimate object, but we felt safe in her and she got us around.....and she was "mommy's car". But we have now moved on to B.J. (Betsy junior, as the kids have named "her"). She has a CD instead of a cassette, and a bunch of other stuff that I still need to figure out! We are looking forward to our first road trip in B.J., not too sure where that's going to be yet.....in mommy's cool car!
