Sunday-Early Riser

This morning my hubby got up at 5:30am, for a 6:20am game of golf. Since I am a morning person, I relished this opportunity. Grabbed my coffee sat outside and read my book! The robins were chirping, the sun was coming up and everything was quiet and still. This book was lent to me by a friend and I am enjoying it immensely. It's made me laugh, and it's made me cry. I'm almost done, but I don't want it to end, I'm going to miss all the wonderful characters! It's definitely a feel good book, very similar to this series (in my opinion) .

Victoria Day/Birthday Weekend

This past weekend was Victoria Day long weekend and Ben's 11 birthday. We headed down to Seattle. First stop was a visit to the Woodland Park Zoo, always a fun time there. Natalie and I had tickets to see Celtic Women, while Amelia, Ben and daddy went to the Mariners vs Red Sox game (Red Sox won 5-3). What 11 year-old boy wouldn't love to see a base-ball game on his birthday!? The excitement on his face was priceless!

I think he wants to be like Peter Pan, and stay my little boy!

Mother'sDay

Happy Mother's Day! My mom loves pansies, so these are for her. Pansies always make me think they are smiling at me. My special day started out with a great breakfast, an early departure for the Vancouver Aquarium, with a brief stop at Starbucks. It's been awhile since our last visit to the Aquarium and some of the exhibits had changed. So it was fun exploring as if it was our first visit ever. We had a lovely picnic lunch and then headed home for my son's baseball game. The game wasn't going so well, but the boys made a huge comeback from 9-0, but in the end were defeated 12-11. But it was still a great game!! I hope all mom's enjoyed their special day....but isn't everyday special?

Seven

I can't believe my baby turned seven this weekend ! Where did time go? Her hands are no longer small and pudgy, her toes no longer look like little pillows, and her front teeth are missing, a true passage of turning seven. We celebrated with a party the day before her birthday. Lots of fun and lots of noise. It's amazing how loud seven year olds can be! I made a Frozen Drumstick Cake and will include the recipe. Some kids liked it, some did not. The day of her birthday we planned a trip to the Vancouver Aquarium, but postponed it to this coming weekend, because of road closures for the Vancouver Marathon.(we needed to get back in time for a baseball game) We did, however, go for a walk to get some yummy gelato. In all it was a great birthday weekend!

We had a Mural station.

A Craft Station, Lady Bug magnets out of fun foam.

Finally some Gelato, Raspberry, Raspberry Yogurt, Lemon, Bailey's, and Coffee.

Frozen Drumstick Cake: Bottom, 1 large bag of peanut butter chip cookies(crushed), 2tbsp. melted butter, 2 tbsp. peanut butter, mix together and spread in a 9x13 pan, reserve some for topping. Filling, 1 large cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1 large cool whip, chocolate syrup. Beat cream cheese, add next 3 ingredients beating well after each. Fold in cool whip. Spread on crust. Drizzle chocolate and sprinkle with crumbs. Put in freezer until set. I made the letters by placing melted chocolate in a plastic sandwich bag, snipped a hole, squeezed the the letters on to a waxed papered cookie sheet, and placed in the freezer.
