Summer Holidays Are Here!

Well summer holidays are here at last!! It felt like it took so long to get through June even though it was so busy. Natalie had her Grade 7 graduation, and will be starting high school in September, we are so very proud of all her accomplishments so far! Ben will be in grade 6 in the fall and improved so much in the last part of the school year. Amelia will be in grade 2 and just had the time of her life in grade 1! Me...well I finished my first year of work after being at home for the past 12 years, and am glad that I have the summer off too...it was tough at times.

My parents came to visit for two weeks which wasn't long enough for me. Here is my mom knitting socks for some lucky person...I wonder who Baba is making these for?

Our rose tree, which was here when we moved in, is in full bloom and looks amazing. The picture doesn't do it justice, and when the wind is right, you get a heavenly scent wafting by...

My parents left today, my hubby played golf after work, and I absolutely dislike like the empty feeling in the house after someone leaves, so...I took the kids down to the beach, packed a supper and just relaxed! The tide was just starting to come in, and it was a warm evening. Lovely, just what I needed.

Happy Father's day and Happy Birthday!!

My parents are visiting from Ontario, a trip they make once a year. Both are in their 80's and are starting to find the flight out west a little difficult. I always cherish every moment they are here, even though my mom and I have our disagreements!

My mom and I made a trip to the knitting store, and bought some wonderful wool. My mom is amazing at making socks, and has outfitted everyone in our family with warm woolly socks. I have been wanting to make the February Lady sweater, and finally bought some yummy wool for that. Lets just hope I finish it before February!! My husband took the picture and was trying to get creative, I kind of like it!!
Ben is finished with baseball for now. His team came in third (10-12year olds). The playoffs were very exciting, I love when their name and number are announced!!
Oh ya, father's day and my birthday were on the same day!! Happy b-day to me!!

Lynden Washington-Baseball Weekend!

This past weekend was all baseball! Ben made one of the All-star teams and that meant a tournament in Lynden Washington. Lynden is a beautiful community, that was originally settled by Dutch settlers. We did a drive around and the kids were amazed by the windmills!
The downtown had beautiful hanging flower baskets everywhere. I couldn't believe how healthy they looked...I wonder who waters them because I didn't notice any little hoses!

The boys on the team were all 10 and 11 year olds, and were in total awe of the whole experience. They were both nervous and excited at the same time!

Monday night

Things are starting to wind down. Ballet and baseball are now finished, at least for a while. Ben made the All Star Team, so that means some tournaments to follow!

What else is there to do but make cookies! I sent this recipe to Leslie who posted it on her blog. They are one of our family favourites...Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Recipe:Beat 1 cup of softened butter with 1 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Stir in 2 eggs, 1 1/4 cup of flour, 1tsp of baking soda, 1/2 tsp of salt. Add 2 cups of quick cooking oats and 2 cups of chocolate chips. Drop from 1 tbsp onto cookie sheet, bake at 350 for 10mins. Enjoy!
